I first heard of the Old Crowns when they opened for the Wooden Sky (at Canteen) during their Bedrooms and Backstreets tour last summer. Steve St. Pierre’s diaphanous voice is one of the main elements that stands out. There’s a certain vulnerability and raw honesty that is triggered by the way he sings the words.
The band is a very close group; a band of bothers of sorts. Each member has been performing since they were teenagers and it shows. They have the right chemistry to ignite the interests of music lovers from folk, rock and country. With their debut full-length release, they bridge the emotions of heart-break, life and the music that makes… and it sounds so damn good.
Thanks to the Old Crowns (with a special mention to Rachel Ferguson) and the WildWorks Station for the videos (interview footage by Ming Wu).
